Who: John & Mikey
What: Preparations; first look, portraits in the mansion. wedding party portraits in front of the barn; ceremony on the lawn and reception and dancing in the barn at Warrenwood Manor.
Where: Danville, Ky
When: October 2018
Mikey hired me over two years before her October 2018 wedding. Although I usually don’t allow brides to book out that far in advance, I made an exception for her, because we got along so well and she seemed really excited about working with me. The couple has a really unique engagement session, which you can see here when I blogged it for another Throwback Thursday. I knew after the engagement session that the wedding was going to be amazing, and it was!
John and Mikey’s fun and whimsical wedding was on a windy October day at Warrenwood Manor in Danville, Kentucky. Mikey looked breathtaking in her ball gown style Morilee wedding dress with a tulle and ruffle skirt she found at The White Dress of Lexington. She also had actual ruby red shoes, just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Her bridesmaids wore bold maroon dresses from Dessy.com. Mikey’s bouquet was filled with greenery, succulents and shades of pink and maroon flowers and her bridesmaid’s carried white bouquets from Natural Endeavors, who also coordinated the wedding for the couple. The guys looked dapper in their blue suits accented with maroon ties provided by Macy's. John had a boutonniere with a vintage key and a plaid pocket square to set him apart from his groomsmen.
Mikey had a special moment with her sister and mother after putting on her dress where she gave them gifts, and also a first look with her dad inside the mansion.
The couple had a first look outside the front door of the Warrenwood Manor mansion, followed by portraits together inside the mansion and around the property. Wedding party shots were taken besides the barn and family portraits in front of the house. The couple were then married outside on the lawn in front of a giant old tree on the property with an amazing clear blue sky as their beautiful backdrop. The couple provided a hot chocolate bar for their guests before the ceremony and also gave guests ribbons to shake as the couple walked down the aisle as husband and wife. During their vows, the couple had a knot tying ceremony, and their officiant was a family friend of Mikey’s, which made it even more special as he teared up during his speech.
Dinner inside the barn was provided by Sister and Friends Catering followed the ceremony. The dinner tables were decorated with moss, deep red accents and simple arrangements of glass and lights for a whimsical look. Dinner was also served on a mismatch of china the bride had collected.
Mikey had worked for Martine’s at one point and her sister still worked there, so of course, she went with the bakery for her wedding cake, which was one of the most unique cake I’ve seen. The design was all Mikey and it was presented on top of a wooden table covered in moss. Mikey also made in the bakery a vikings groom cake for John earlier that week and surprised him with it during the reception.
The couple had a really fun reception, with music provided by Tony the Tiger DJ Services. John and Mikey’s first dance was to Perfect by Ed Sheeran and they celebrated with family and friends all evening. The couple also provided a bonfire and smores for the guests to enjoy after dinner and a photo booth by Bearded Brother’s Photo Booth. John & Mikey ended the night with a sunset portrait session and a sparkler exit in front of the barn to send them off.
