Who: Jones Family
What: Family Session at Jacobson Park
Where: Lexington, Ky
When: November 2018
Dominique is actually my hairdresser at Planet Salon. I have been going to her since 2016 and don’t let anyone else do my hair. She also helps me out by doing the hair and makeup for my boudoir sessions. She reached out to me about hiring me to photograph some photos of her family: her mom and three siblings.
The session was a great time all around and I loved meeting Dominque’s family, especially her mom, who was definitely the heart of the group and a lot of fun to take photos for. Since the fall leave were still out, we even got some leave throwing photos!
Here are a few of my favorite images from the day:
David & Cassie
Cassie & David were one of my first clients as a wedding photographer. And I loved the experience I had photographing their engagement and wedding. When they met with me and hired me, they expressed wanting photos in the snow, so we watched the weather in anticipation for a wintery snowy day.
Lucky for us, that year we had a lot of snow and one day that was a full on blizzard. With David’s truck and my SUV we were able to meet in Frankfort Kentucky and take photos around the capital for a snowy day picnic. We then went on to a bookstore in downtown Frankfort called Poor Richard’s for some cozy photos among the antique books.
Matt & Ashley
When Ashley said her and her fiancé Matt were getting married at a Barn in Red River Gorge, and that the area was important to the couple, I suggested we could do their engagement photos there as well. I had shot an engagement session in the Gorge once before, so I was familiar with some areas, but relied on Matt, who grew up in the area, to show me the way to some secret spots. He didn’t disappoint!
Bryan & Kellie
I was honored to photograph Bryan & Kelie’s wedding in May of 2018. It was a fun and charming wedding at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort. At that time, the couple opted to have a one year anniversary session instead of the engagement session I offer with my wedding day services. So once the time came this year, we planned a photo shoot at Shaker Village.
Taylor & Emily
June 27th, 2019
I actually met Emily when she was a bridesmaid for a wedding I photographed in the fall of 2017. I remembered her well and I thought she was so easy to photograph and really photogenic. Her fiancé, Taylor, was at the wedding and I got a couple of photos of them together. Now I am shooting their wedding this fall!
I met Madeline in 2017 when I was the wedding photographer for a wedding she was bridesmaid in. When she became engaged to Luke, her fiancé, she remembered me and contracted met to photograph her wedding as well.
When it came time to plan Erika and her fiancé, Beck, engagement session, Erika asked if we could take some photos at the tennis courts at the University of Kentucky. Beck actually played tennis for UK and it was a way to include something special to him in the photos. They also brought their dog, London, who I couldn’t get enough of. That little dog was zooming around everywhere! I wish I had that energy.
We are going way back for this Throwback Thursday. Way back to my very first full year as a wedding photographer. Even though these engagement photos were taken 3 full years ago, I am still very proud of the photos and think fondly of this beautiful and loving couple…
I reached out to Megan when she posted on a local wedding Facebook group searching for a photographer who could handle the contrasting skin tones of her and her fiancé Kerry. I reached out to her and sent her examples of my work…
I first met Ashley in 2017 when I photographed a wedding Ashley was working. She was training under the wedding planner for the wedding. Ashley eventually went off on her own and started her own event planning company, Mosaic Weddings & Events, which plans weddings and events in and around Lexington….
Mikey and John hired me almost two years before their wedding date so we had plenty of time to plan a perfect engagement session. They also expressed they hired me because I could provide an engagement session that was unique to them and tailored to their fun personalities…
