Andy & Allyssa
July 13th, 2019
Andy & Allyssa met on an online dating website. For their first date, the couple met at a local bar and talked for seven hours! Allyssa had planned to check in with a friend during the date, so her friend would know she was safe, but Allyssa was so engrossed in the conversation, she forgot to check in, and scared her friend half to death.
For the proposal, Andy planned for almost a year.. In August of 2017, the couple traveled to Yellowstone, with plans to do a gorgeous 3-day backpacking trip. Andy planned the route, which was a loop route which ascended over 5,000 feet to the ridge where he intended to propose. What Andy didn't do when planning was look at the topographical map. Five hours and four miles later, the couple were all out of energy and had just reached the top of the mountain. Given that they were out of water and energy, the couple made the decision to turn around and go back down the path to the first campsite, but not before Andy dropped to one knee (well, dropped to his face on the ground, and then propped himself up on a knee) and proposed.
I knew when I started photographing Allyssa getting ready the morning of her wedding, that it was going to be a fun and relaxed day. Everyone was joking around and having fun, and nobody seemed to be stressed or nervous. And I was right! The day was great! My favorite part of the day was when the couple were exchanging their personal vows they had both written. There was a great mix of laughs and tears and the vows fit the couple perfectly!
