Christopher & Ashley
August 10th, 2019
Christopher & Ashley met through mutual friends in 2014 and became best friends before Christopher eventually confessed his feelings to Ashley, and she shared she felt the same about him. They dated for four years before they got engaged at The Burl in Lexington, Ky.
Christopher was hosting an album release event at The Burl for Trippin Roots in June of 2018, so the couple were both planning on being there for the evening. Their friends & family knew he was going to propose, and they were already planning on being there as well to witness the event. Once the first few bands finished, Christopher got on stage to announce the winners of a Trippin Roots giveaways. He listed off names of people who won shirts, CD's, etc. Then he said, "Ashley, oh my own girlfriend won," and he brought Ashley up on stage. He had her walk over to Evan, one of the band members, to get her gift, then Evan said he didn't have any left. Christopher then said, "Well, I think you might like this gift a little bit more! Honey, I love you, will you marry me?" as he got down on one knee. Ashley was a few bourbons in (because no one could've told her not to drink or it may have given the secret away!) ands was in complete shock, started crying, nodded her head yes, then the couple slow danced on stage to a song that Evan had written for his wife for their wedding day.
I knew photographing this wedding was going to be epic. Not only were the couple a fun, outgoing duo, but Ashley is a wedding planner herself, who knows how to throw a wedding like no other. They got ready at The Galerie, a relative new venue in Versailles, had their ceremony at Estes Chapel in Wilmore, Ky, then finished the night back at the Galerie! I think my favorite part of the day was when Christopher saw his bride for the first look. He said, “It only took 37 years, but I found the perfect girl!”
Ashley’s dress was gorgeous and unique, and her bridesmaids all commented on how the design was “so Ashley”.
The groom gave all his groomsmen custom boxes with cigars and engraved sunglasses.
Kim, Ashley’s mom and also her matron of honor, helped the Bride in to her dress.
Christopher got ready in the room next door at The Galerie.
Ashley is a stunning bride, and her bouquet by Rachel's Rose Garden complimented her wedding theme perfectly.
What a jaw dropping bride!
Christopher’s boutonniere was a great match to Ashley’s bouquet, and he looked dapper in the afternoon light.
Ashley had a first look with her dad, Rick at The Bourbon Bar across the street from the venue...
…and one with Christopher immediately after.
A STUNNING couple
What a slick group of guys!
Every couple needs a core group of friends, and Christopher and Ashley had a great group of friends to support them on the big day!
Christopher’s reaction to seeing his radiant bride coming down the aisle was one of the best parts of the day. You could see the love!
It was a joyful ceremony.
Ashley owns Mosaic Wedding & Events, so the decor was beautiful and the attention to detail was amazing.
The cake by Sweet Lilu's was the icing on the cake, (pun attended) on top of the stunning decor.
The couple had their first dance to "Work Song" by Hozier performed by Trippin’ Roots, the band that was performing at the couple’s proposal!
The bride had a special surprise for her dad. During their first dance, there was a video projected on the wall of her and her dad dancing when she was a really small child. She also gave him a candy necklace as an inside joke between father and daughter.
Christopher twirled his mom around for their dance together.
Christopher performed Queen’s “We are the Champions” with the band at the start of the reception. And shouldn’t every groom feel like a rockstar on his wedding day?
Ashley and Christopher ended the night with a sparkler exit with all their guests outside The Galerie.
Congrats, Christopher & Ashley! Can’t wait to share the rest of the photos with you!
