Taylor & Emily
June 27th, 2019
I actually met Emily when she was a bridesmaid for a wedding I photographed in the fall of 2017. I remembered her well and I thought she was so easy to photograph and really photogenic. Her fiancé, Taylor, was at the wedding and I got a couple of photos of them together. Now I am shooting their wedding this fall!
For the couple’s engagement session, we had planned to go to Gratz Park in Lexington, but had to reschedule the session three times because of rain! Once we finally found a day without rain, it happened to be a muggy and hot day. But the couple were in high spirits and with the summer sun shining, we got great photos!
I love taking couples to this little spot on a side street to the park. The light is perfect here!
Even though it’s starting to get late in the season, the flowers were blooming and the whole area was gorgeous. We found some hydrangea bushes and took advantage of the flowers.
I had originally planned to photograph the couple sitting down with serious expressions on their faces, but their laughing is courageous and I ended up loving these more than the serious ones!
Taylor was up for anything so we did a fun one of him jumping!
I had a lot of fun photographing you guys, Taylor & Emily and I am so excited to photograph your wedding in September!
Christopher & Ashley
August 10th, 2019
Christopher & Ashley met through mutual friends in 2014 and became best friends before Christopher eventually confessed his feelings to Ashley, and she shared she felt the same about him. They dated for four years before they got engaged at The Burl in Lexington, Ky.
Bryan & Kellie
This couple might look familiar as just last month I photographed and blogged their one year anniversary session, so I thought it would be fun to blog their wedding for Throwback Thursday and revisit their bright and romantic Kentucky wedding.
Nick & Kylie
November 24th, 2018
For as long as I am alive and shooting weddings, I will never forget the process of shooting Nick & Kylie’s wedding. Kylie hired me over a year before her wedding, and because she was on the west coast, we didn’t get to meet, but had a phone chat. I then learned that her fiancé Nick had joined the military and because of basic training, they had to move their May wedding date a couple weeks later- to a date I was unavailable! They choose to stay with Bourbon & Brides and allow me to contract out a second shooter for their wedding.
Andy & Allyssa
July 13th, 2019
Andy & Allyssa met on an online dating website. For their first date, the couple met at a local bar and talked for seven hours! Allyssa had planned to check in with a friend during the date, so her friend would know she was safe, but Allyssa was so engrossed in the conversation, she forgot to check in, and scared her friend half to death.
Michael & Emily’s wedding was in my first full year as a full time wedding photographer, and one of the first (and only) times I’ve photographed a wedding sick. I woke up Sunday morning at 5am to travel to Louisville for the early wedding. I had to be in the hotel to begin shooting at 7am. Well, I woke up with a migraine! I took some medicine before I left the house, but I still had a headache and then a stomachache by the time I got to the hotel. Even though my head was hurting and my stomach was queasy, I made a point to give 110% while shooting, and luckily I felt better by the 11am ceremony.
Although it was sticky hot outside, I had a lot of fun photographing Aaron & Brooke’s wedding in Lexington. From the moment the day started, Brooke was laughing, smiling and taking in every moment of her special day. There was no way I could not pick up on her great attitude, and enjoy myself even more.
Mikey hired me over two years before her October 2018 wedding. Although I usually don’t allow brides to book out that far in advance, I made an exception for her, because we got along so well and she seemed really excited about working with me. The couple has a really unique engagement session, which you can see here when I blogged it for another Throwback Thursday. I knew after the engagement session that the wedding was going to be amazing, and it was!
David and Kara met when they were on the same dive team at the University of Alabama. For two years, they dived together and became close friends. All their mutual friends saw the chemistry the couple had together, but they only remained best friends. Finally, David worked up the courage to confess his feelings to Kara, and although she hadn’t realized it until then, she saw she had feelings for him too!
Jered and Brittany were introduced by mutual friends who thought they would be a cute couple. And the friends were right!
After dating for almost 3 years, Jered took Brittany for a dinner date at Tony’s, a popular steakhouse in Lexington. Brittany was convinced he would propose during dinner, but he didn’t.
Andrew asked out Gabby after work one evening for dinner. The plan was to go to a nice restaurant, but the couple ended up talking in Gabby’s car until 3am instead! Since then they have been enjoying life together.
After dating for two years, Andrew and Gabby planned a trip together to visit London, England for Gabby’s spring break while she was in graduate school.
