Michael & Emily
June 19th, 2016
Michael & Emily’s wedding was in my first full year as a full time wedding photographer, and one of the first (and only) times I’ve photographed a wedding sick. I woke up Sunday morning at 5am to travel to Louisville for the early wedding. I had to be in the hotel to begin shooting at 7am. Well, I woke up with a migraine! I took some medicine before I left the house, but I still had a headache and then a stomachache by the time I got to the hotel. Even though my head was hurting and my stomach was queasy, I made a point to give 110% while shooting, and luckily I felt better by the 11am ceremony.
To this day I still remember what the couple’s first look was like. I have photographed a lot of first looks, but Michael’s reaction was the most memorable for me. As soon as he turned around and saw his beautiful bride, he burst in to tears of joy. It had me and my second shooter both crying with how sweet it was.
Even though the ceremony was at 11am and the reception was scheduled to end at 2pm, the reception was hopping and a lot of fun! The couple’s friends really loved to dance and for an early afternoon Sunday wedding, everyone had a blast! The couple had a bubble exit, which is rare, but really fun to photograph.
Emily looked radiant in her dress and veil in the morning sun.
The couple’s first look was one of the most beautiful moments I’ve seen in all the years I’ve been a Kentucky wedding photographer.
I loved photographing the wedding party! Everyone was a lot of fun and wanted to take fun and cute photos.
I love a relaxed and carefree wedding party!
Michael & Emily were soooo in love and you could tell how great they are together by the happiness in their eyes.
The Gardencourt at Louisville Presbyterian Seminary is one the most beautiful wedding venues I’ve photographed at in four years.
It was a hot and sticky wedding day in June, but the couple were in high spirits, and having an 11am ceremony helped with the heat.
The reception had classic and elegant details…
…and the cake! It was gorgeous and the sugar flowers were amazing. (Yes! Those are flowers made of sugar!)
The light in the dining room for dinner and speeches was beautiful…
For an early afternoon reception, everyone in attendance had a lot of fun and there was a lot of dancing!
I loved photographing your wedding, Michael and Emily! It is one for the record books!
