Most people who know Lexington know Keeneland. They only have horse racing on site in the months of April and October, which allows for a lot of flexibility for couples to have their engagement session or wedding day portraits at Keeneland without a crowd. With the paddock, iconic clock, race track and lots of greenery, Keeneland is a beautiful choice of your engagement or portrait session.
Keeneland is very photography friendly and has a lot of locations on the entire property for taking engagement photos. Typically I shoot around the paddock and betting area, living quarters and Keeneland library. It is is free to use and open year round with the exception of October and April when they are swarming with people for the race meets. Couples who really like Keeneland and need their engagement session in April or October have opted to do a session early in the morning.
Keeneland is also dog-friendly, which is a huge plus for the couples who want to incorporate their pets in to their photos. The only con to Keeneland is it is not easy to get beautiful sunset photos as the entire area is covered with trees and the airport is in the direction of the setting sun.
